SoCalGas contributing $500K to Sierra Northern Railway-led hydrogen fuel-cell switcher locomotive project

Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) announced it will be working together with Sierra Northern Railway, Gas Technology Institute (GTI), and other technical experts to develop and test a zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell engine for a switcher locomotive. California state senate approves bills extending sole-occupant HOV perk for plug-ins and alt fuel vehicles to 2019

The California state senate has approved two related bills ( AB-266 and SB-286 ) that extend the existing programs that allow solo drivers to use carpool lanes (high occupancy vehicle, HOV) lanes as an incentive. The state has implemented three clean air vehicle HOV sticker programs in recent years: White HOV stickers.

California-to-Canada Hydrogen Road Rally Starts 26 May

The 2009 Hydrogen Road Tour, an annual road rally to demonstrate the advancements in fuel-cell technology, will begin May 26 in San Diego, California and end June 3 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Currently, 300 fuel-cell vehicles have been placed on California roads and manufacturers expect to increase that to 4,300 by 2014.
