The Anaheim Transportation Network has awarded an order for 40 battery-electric buses to BYD. The ATN fleet order will increase the number of BYD electric buses the agency can deploy to serve one of the nation’s busiest tourism and employment regions. The buses range in size from the 30-foot BYD K7M to the articulated 60-foot K11M.

With the high costs and operational complexities surrounding electric vehicle (EV) deployments within commercial fleets, EV manufacturer BYD announced a preferred partnership with charging infrastructure provider AMPLY Power. BYD produces transit buses and motor coaches at its manufacturing plant in Lancaster, California.

To be eligible for the NYSEV-VIF grant, a vehicle must be a new Class 3-8 all-electric vehicle truck or bus. Other approved vehicles are BYD buses (up to $150K); Motiv Power electric F450s ($90K); New Flyer buses ($150K); Proterra buses ($150K); Trans Tech buses ($90K); Workhorse vans ($60K); and Zenith Motors vans (up to $57,436).
