Buick is committing to an all-electric portfolio by the end of the decade. In support of General Motors’ vision of a zero-emissions, all-electric future, Buick will bring its first electric vehicle to market for North America in 2024. Buick’s future EV products will carry the Electra name, drawing inspiration from the brand’s history.

Buick’s vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology made its debut at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition. Later this year, Buick will become the first brand in China officially to roll out the market-ready technology on a production vehicle, a Buick GL8. Past work on V2X in China.

Shanghai GM announced that its all-new high-end midsize SUV, the Buick Envision, will make its premiere in China later this year. The fuel-saving start/stop technology will come standard across the line. The production model is inspired by the Buick Envision plug-in hybrid concept vehicle, introduced at Auto Shanghai 2011.

Buick announced that it will shortly launch the Velite 5, its first extended range electric vehicle (EREV), in China. Last year, Buick launched the all-new LaCrosse Hybrid Electric Vehicle and hosted the world premiere of the Velite Concept, which served as the template for future new energy vehicles under Buick’s strategy in China.

The Cascada will be the first Buick convertible offered in the United States in 25 years and the latest globally developed vehicle to join the brand’s growing portfolio.
