FCA US LLC announced an agreement to supply “thousands” of Chrysler Pacifica plug-in Hybrid minivans ( earlier post ) to Waymo to support the launch of its driverless ride-hailing service. The additional Pacifica Hybrid minivans will be used to support Waymo as it expands its service to more cities across the United States.

LG Chem announced that it won a contract to supply the 16 kWh Li-ion battery pack and controls for the new Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid minivan introduced earlier this year at the Detroit auto show. Earlier post.). Chrysler estimates that the Pacifica Hybrid will deliver an all-electric range of 30 miles.

Chrysler Group is working with NextEnergy to evaluate vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology using four all-electric minivans. Detroit-based NextEnergy is a non-profit energy-technology and business accelerator. Each is powered by a 24 kWh battery modified to accommodate bidirectional charging.
