Ford has said it will restart construction on the electric vehicle battery facility it’s building in Marshall, Michigan, after pausing work when the UAW strike kicked off a couple months ago. As stated previously, we have been evaluating BlueOval Battery Park Michigan in Marshall.

Ford informed dealers in a letter that it was discontinuing the end-of-lease purchase option for the E-Transit van, Mustang Mach-E, and F-150 Lightning. “The purchase of the BEV Lease is to aid in our goal of delivering carbon neutrality by 2050 by controlling the vehicle battery through its life, keeping it in the Ford network.”

These big price reductions, $5,900 for the Bolt EV and $6,300 for Bolt EUV, makes them more competitive as Chevrolet no longer qualifies for the federal $7,500 tax credit. In August 2021 Chevrolet stopped production of both models as there was a battery recall. Bolt EUV $28,195 ($34,495). But it is more than that.

This includes all of the resources used in manufacturing the vehicle, the battery, and powering the vehicle. Also, batteries can be reused for other purposes, and the minerals in batteries can be recycled almost infinitely. Thanks to federal regulations, EV batteries are required to be 8 years or 100,000 miles.

Ford began production of the 2013 C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid vehicle ( earlier post ) at Michigan Assembly in October, and the vehicles are heading for showrooms. Ford has tripled to more than 200 the number of dealers certified to sell its lineup of plug-in electrified vehicles, including the C-MAX Energi that is on sale now.
