A near production-ready all-electric Isuzu D-MAX ute has been confirmed for an Australian launch as the Japanese brand attempts to head off electrified utilities based on the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger. Revealed ahead of the Bangkok motor show, exact timings for when the Isuzu D-MAX EV launches have yet to be announced.

Hot on the heels of the Isuzu D-Max EV, Toyota has now announced it too is pushing its Toyota HiLux REVO BEV into production at its factory in Thailand – and the battery-electric ute could be heading to Australia. It hopes that 50 per cent of all the new battery-powered Toyota HiLux REVO BEV it will make will be sold locally.

They suggest the ute will be based on the stylish 2023 EPU pick-up concept that was shown at the Tokyo mobility show. The larger SUV, meanwhile, looks identical to the 2023 all-electric LandCruiser Se concept that was also revealed in Japan’s capital. Toyota EPU concept is an electric four-door ute.
