Northvolt to build 100 GWh/year cathode material plant in Sweden; reusing shuttered pulp and paper mill

Northvolt will develop the site into a manufacturing plant for active material and battery cells, reusing and refurbishing much of the existing facilities and site infrastructure. Since Northvolt’s founding, we have focused on circular battery production, but this is the first time we will reuse an entire production site.

Sweden’s Northvolt raises USD 5 bn green loan to expand battery factories – ET Auto

Sweden’s Northvolt reveals it has built the first lithium-ion battery cell in Europe

Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt announced that on December 28th, it successfully produced the first lithium-ion battery cell to be designed, developed, and built completely in Europe by a homegrown company. Northvolt Ett will commercially deliver various cell types in 2022.
