Last month, Lightning Systems announced that it has developed a hydrogen fuel cell version of the LightningElectric developed in partnership with several industry partners that will extend the range of the vehicle to more than 200 miles. LightningElectric is available for the Ford Transit as part of Ford’s eQVM program.

Cal Energy Commission to award ~$1.2M for center for alt fuels and advanced vehicle technologies

The California Energy Commission Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP) is making up to $1,194,659 in grant funds available to develop a new center or expand an existing center for alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies in Central California. California ARB to hold community meetings on coming LEV III combined tailpipe and GHG regulations

The community meetings are currently scheduled for Fresno (12 July); Pacoima (19 July); and Oakland (26 July). The public meetings will also serve as scoping meetings for the FED, to receive input as to what elements the public considers important for inclusion in the environmental analysis. It requires significant improvements in vehicle efficiencies, and a continual reduction in the carbon intensity of fuels used in trucks and rail, including hydrogen and electricity. Significant, ongoing vehicle efficiencies can be achieved in Class 3–Class 7 trucks as well, and will be partly enabled by improvements in light-duty vehicles.
