The BMW brand flagship will be available with four different drive technologies: with a highly efficient diesel or gasoline engine with 48-volt technology, as an electrified plug-in hybrid and, for the first time, as a fully-electric BEV model. The i3 will also offer the SAE combo fast charger; when the BMW i3 is plugged into a modern public fast-charging station (50 kW) it takes about 30 minutes for the battery to reach 80% capacity. The design principle behind the electric motor ( earlier post ) in the BMW i3 helps it to run extremely effectively across a wide load band.
