Germany’s VDA, an interest group for the country’s automobile industry, says that battery-powered vehicles are likely to see a decline from 524,000 units last year – more than any other European market – to 451,000 units this year. Germany is Europe’s biggest auto market, and it’s been one of the main drivers of EV growth.

Only last year, Tesla beat BYD company from China, delivering more than 800,000 electric vehicles towards the end of 2019, while BYD lagged at about 700,000. Another aspect that would have been a tie-breaker for Tesla, even if its numbers hadn’t surpassed BYD, was the fact that it only produces electric cars.
