In the US, Chrysler and General Motors fell into bankruptcy; while in Japan even its major automakers have been left reeling from significant profit falls. Honda too has pinned its recovery hopes on green cars, pushing both hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell technology. However, the company’s bright spark remains its green efforts.

The Legislature is taking a step toward giving a Sunshine State boost to the next generation of automobiles: electric-powered cars. An effort led by House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, R-Boca Raton, to give a sales tax exemption to consumers who buy battery-powered, electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids picked up a unanimous endorsement today.
