The City of Calgary and Plug’n Drive are bringing a fleet of EVs and plug-in hybrids to Calgary for a month of free, no-pressure test drives. This will be the third MEET presented by The City of Calgary, and second in 2025, highlighting The City’s commitment to introducing EVs, their fuel savings, and emissions reductions to local drivers.

The 23-foot gasoline-electric hybrid buses—a size smaller than heavy urban transit buses—are part of a national pilot program to speed commercialization of these vehicles, which are expected to yield 30% to 40% reductions in fuel use with an accompanying 30% reduction in emissions. However, the practise of the Government Services Administration’s (GSA) orders for 14,105 fuel efficient vehicles has come in for criticism. The GSA has spent $210million in Recovery Act funding - an average of $14,888 per vehicle - on its new fuel efficient line-up.
