The MF-90 car fueling system can fill an automobile in three minutes for 300-400 miles of operation. The station also will be able to fuel hydrogen fuel cell cars made by major auto manufacturers, including Hyundai, Daimler, Toyota, GM, and Honda. The DOE’s Alternative Fuels Data Center provides a comprehensive database of federal and state programs that support EVs and infrastructure. The only by products are water and a fair degree of heat, the latter indicating a degree of inefficiency and wasted energy. Nonetheless, hydrogen fuel cell cars are, like pure battery powered cars, classed as Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV). If taken from such sources, hydrogen is a fossil fuel, and is not a renewable resource.

Despite the recent progress, a number of myths around the use, power efficiency and cost of fuel cells still exist. With global leading car OEMs such as Toyota, Honda, Hyundai all recently announcing their intentions to make their FCEVs available to the consumer, there is no doubt that the OEMs have done their homework.

The Other Zero Emission Vehicle. There is another option, though, in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Being able to quickly pump hydrogen gas into your car’s fuel tank is just one benefit of these cars. When the hydrogen is converted to electricity, the only output the car will have is water vapour.
