The latter figure beats the $112,595 GMC Hummer EV that’s set to reach showrooms in early 2022. GMC is targeting about 350 miles from a roughly 200-kilowatt-hour pack, the largest ever fitted to an electric vehicle. Rivian also plans to offer a more affordable 105-kilowatt-hour pack with a roughly 230-mile range.

Despite all-electric vehicles being heralded as environmentally sound solutions that would kick down the door to affordable mobility, there haven’t been a lot of good examples hitting the market recently. General Motors recently released the absolutely ludicrous GMC Hummer EV while the Chevrolet Bolt is being discontinued.

Some promises are being kept, some have been deferred, but we see a solid crop of 19 very likely new entries fairly evenly split between affordable and luxury electrics. This fancy model will come later, but we’ll see an affordable working truck in 2022.
