At these prices, people are buying the "environmental feature" -- they want to be among the first owners of the worlds cleanest extended-range vehicles. They are early adopters, buying "Version 1.0" Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs.

I said I would consider it, but that I was really hoping to establish a precedent, legally speaking, beyond Torrance. Yeah, they can afford it. But I think a big part of that was Moore’s law and things becoming really affordable. I want it to be all of California. And this is boring. I want it to go away. We’re turnkey.
