Norwegian startup Blastr Green Steel is planning to establish a green steel plant with an integrated hydrogen production facility in Inkoo, Finland. The area has excellent conditions for industrial activities: a deep-water harbor and an excellent electricity transmission network. Finland is an ideal location for our project.

A research group from the University of Turku, Finland, has developed a new protocol to deliver sustained hydrogen photoproduction in green algae under a train of strong white light pulses interrupted by longer dark phases. This led to techniques such as sulfur-deprivation to extend hydrogen production.

RCL has signed a memorandum of understanding with Finland shipbuilder Meyer Turku for the new class of vessel under the project name “Icon.” The switch to LNG provides further momentum for the technology, which has begun making significant inroads in the maritime industry. The ships will join the fleet of Royal Caribbean International.
