Kia Motors will introduce its first 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain in the second half of 2018. The new “EcoDynamics+” powertrain supplements acceleration with electric power from an additional 48-volt battery and extends combustion engine ‘off time’ using a new Mild-Hybrid Starter-Generator unit.

Gasoline engines: Worldwide, gasoline engines are the most popular powertrain. China leads the field: there, nearly 100% of all new car purchasers choose a gasoline engine; in the US and Japan, the figure is roughly 75%. Engines with port-fuel injection still feature in more than every second gasoline-powered vehicle.

Rheinmetall Automotive sees its content per car rising under an e-mobility scenario, with battery-electric vehicles offering the greatest opportunity. The new system, where we have adopted a pretty radical change in the architecture itself, downsizes dramatically, takes 100 kg of the mass out, and takes the size down to half of that of the Equinox. Infiniti unveiled its electric Prototype 10 at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. From 2021, every new Infiniti model will be electrified, featuring hybrid or battery electric technology to enhance performance.
