Maven is now offering its first all-electric fleet of cars for use in the gig economy; 20 Chevrolet Bolt EVs are available for freelance drivers in Austin, Texas to earn money on their own schedules. The Chevrolet Bolt EV with an EPA-estimated range of 238 miles is the most popular vehicle among Maven Gig drivers.

Future cities include Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. Maven Gig vehicles are available for flat weekly rates that include the car, unlimited miles, insurance (minus deductibles) and maintenance. More than 100 Bolt EVs are available in Los Angeles and that number will double by the end of 2017.

In October, a startup called Jidu Automotive , backed by Chinese AI giant Baidu and Chinese carmaker Geely , officially released an autonomous electric car, the Robo-01 Lunar Edition. Level 3 handles all aspects of driving, but it requires that the driver remain ready to regain control if requested. In 2023, the car will go on sale.
