e-POWER uses a highly efficient gasoline engine to generate electricity for the electric motor that propels the vehicle. The onboard gasoline engine used to generate electrical energy is also more efficient, resulting in both increased power and better fuel economy. The new inverter is 40% smaller and 30% lighter.

Model year (MY) 2016 vehicle fuel economy was 24.7 The average weight for new vehicles produced in MY 2016 was 4,035 pounds (1,830 kg), which was unchanged from MY 2015 although the weight of an average new car fell by 23 pounds (10.4 The average 0-to-60 mph acceleration time was the same in MY 2016 as MY 2015. ft 2 (-0.4%).

(As As examples of SUV/MPV-style electric vehicle fuel efficiency, the 2016 Tesla Model X AWD - 75D is EPA-rated at 93 MPGe combined city/highway; the Model X AWD - P90D is EPA-rated at 89 MPGe; and the 2016 BYD e6 compact MPV is EPA-rated at 72 MPGe.
