Kia Motors America (KMA) introduced the re-designed Optima midsize sedan at the New York International Auto Show. The all-new Optima is available with three engine choices, providing a balance between sportiness and fuel efficiency. All new for the 2016 model is a 1.6-liter Body and chassis.

Exceeding its initial program targets, the plug-in 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid ( earlier post ) has earned an electric-mode fuel economy rating of 84 miles-per-gallon-equivalent (MPGe) from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The score relates to a vehicle’s combined performance on fuel economy and greenhouse-gas emissions.

Kia Motors has provided a few more details on the new hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains planned for the all-new Optima, as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to broaden its global range of low-emission vehicles. These changes are expected to contribute to a 10% improvement in fuel economy over earlier versions of the Optima Hybrid.

Volkswagen is presenting the latest generation of the EA211 TSI evo at the 37 th International Vienna Motor Symposium. The fuel-efficient and high-torque gasoline-fueled TSI engine is set to launch in late 2016, initially with outputs of 96 kW and 110 kW. The cylinder head has been extensively re-engineered.
