Sumitomo Electric demoing ESS for power grid in California; US’ largest redox flow battery system

Following the start of the project in September 2015, a redox flow battery system (2 MW x 4 hours) was constructed for a power grid at a substation in San Diego. Demonstration will now be carried out to evaluate the management of surplus electricity and regulation of grid frequency and voltage fluctuation.

The plug-in hybrids have been further developed, and enable rapid recharging from electricity grids via the Opbrid B?sbaar A demo project that will bring eight more plug-in hybrid buses into service will commence next year in Stockholm. Hamburg and Luxembourg have already signed contracts for supplies of the buses in 2014 and 2015.
