GE’s wastewater evaporation technologies have been selected to improve wastewater recovery at an existing oil sands project near Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada. To date, 14 SAGD projects have selected GE evaporation technologies, including six over the past 19 months, for their produced water and OTSG blowdown treatment applications.

Twelve of Canada’s oil sands producers have formed a new alliance, Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA), focused on accelerating the pace of improving environmental performance in Canada’s oil sands through collaborative action and innovation. The released water is recovered and recycled.

Microalgae can grow in waste or sea water and offer vastly superior biomass yields per hectare; furthermore, CO 2 removed from the atmosphere during photosynthetic growth of the plant offsets CO 2 released during fuel combustion. Case 1 is based on algal fuel production, with oilcake and glycerol as waste material.

In a pre-response to that speech, having successfully advocated for plug-in hybrids like the forthcoming Chevy Volt, we propose that the President follow that speech up with a “realistic and conservative” roadmap to halve our oil use in 10 years. Oil is holding us all hostage, economically and physically. Finally, it’s time to begin.

GM killed that car because of back room deals with oil companies" GM "killed" that experiment because it wasnt even CLOSE to being cost effective. Deliveries start in 2011.
