Land Rover presented its Range_e development model at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this week. This development model features a plug-in hybrid diesel-electric powertrain that Land Rover expects to make available in future production models, following the scheduled launch of its diesel-electric hybrid in 2013.

The majority of the vehicles are electric, with a small number being plug-in gasoline-electric hybrids. Toyota and EDF Energy will deploy a trial of up to 20 Toyota Plug in Hybrid Vehicles (PHV). Miljobil Grenland AS, the Norwegian subsidiary of Tata Motors, the company that bought out Jaguar and Land Rover in 2008, has awarded a contract to supply batteries for the Indica Vista electric vehicle project to South Korea’s Energy Innovation Group (EIG).

Chinese automaker BYD may have been founded in 2003, but it wasn’t until 2008 that it garnered mainstream attention when Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffet, bought a 10 per cent stake in its parent company. Tata Motors: Most people know Tata Motors because it acquired Jaguar and Land Rover in 2008.
