BMW M cars – they’re coming with hybrid drivetrains. Ford F-150 Lightning – EV version of America’s top-selling large pick-up truck is also the fastest and most powerful. The door to bringing the EV ute to Australia has been prised open with confirmation ICE F-150s are on the way in 2023.

Two of the four vehicles I have owned have been Fords, the most recent being a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. The issue is, Biden seemed to give Ford credit for things that they’re just not very well-versed with quite yet. It was the best car I’ve ever had. My Dad has owned nothing but Fords for as long as I can remember.

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Several after-market companies have done PHEV conversions of the Ford Escape hybrid and one has done a retrofit of the F-150 pickup -- see Where PHEVs Are and ICE-Conversions.)
