Ford US sales up 5% in April; SUVs post an April record, hybrid sales down 31%

Ford to Introduce 9 New or Upgraded Engines and Six New Transmissions in North America This Year

By the end of 2010, nearly all of Ford’s North American engines will have been upgraded or replaced since 2008, according to Barb Samardzich, Ford vice president, Powertrain Engineering. In 2010, Ford will launch new engines and transmissions in Fiesta, Mustang, Super Duty and F-150. liter V-6 for the F-150.

Ford increases soy content in foam, adds head restraint as newest component for sustainable material

Seventy-five percent of Ford’s North American vehicles feature bio-foam in the head restraints, including the Ford F-150, Taurus, Explorer and Fusion. The extended use of soy foam results from the continued research collaboration between Ford and Lear; Ford first used sustainable soybean oil-derived seating foam on the 2008 Mustang.
