The Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards require that vehicles offered for sale in the US attain an average fuel economy of 40.3 These standards will require the US new vehicle fleet to double in fuel economy between 2012 and 2025. The NLCFS researchers submitted seven research reports supporting the TAR to the peer-reviewed journal Energy Policy to be published in a special issue, “Low Carbon Fuel Policy” later this summer. We’re trying to avoid that.
