Gasoline engine-powered models as well as the standard hybrid are available with all-wheel drive. This means: In Auto EV mode, the vehicle decides whether to run on gas or electric power.

Ford will begin applying start-stop technology—currently used in Ford hybrids and some Ford cars in Europe—in conventional cars, crossovers and SUVs in North America in 2012. The fuel-saving system eventually will be offered in all of Ford’s global markets. The global rollout of Auto Start-Stop is under way in Europe.
