EcoDual , LLC, a provider of dual fuel natural gas conversion systems for heavy-duty diesel trucks, has achieved US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) compliance for installing its systems on 2004 to 2009 Cummins ISX engines. In dual fuel operation, the trucks maintain full torque and power with no loss of miles per gallon.

has added 92 hybrid-electric trucks to its delivery fleet by converting standard FedEx delivery trucks to hybrid-electric systems. Conversion systems allow vehicles to run on alternative fuels; most conversions involve switching gasoline or diesel vehicles to operate instead on a gaseous fuel such as natural gas or propane; an alcohol fuel; or electricity. EPA expects the streamlined approach to result in a cost savings for many converters.

Overall, FedEx currently operates 274 hybrid electric and electric vehicles around the globe, and 1,780 alternative fuel vehicles and equipment. The addition of these 51 vehicles takes FedEx to a total of 325 hybrid electric and electric vehicles, and more than 1,800 alternative fuel vehicles and equipment.
