Toyota introduced the Auris Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) at the 2010 Geneva motor show, marking a significant milestone in Toyota’s planned deployment of the Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain across Toyota’s entire model range by early 2020s. The electric motor alone powers the driven wheels when the Auris HSD is operating in EV mode.

The electric sofas and scooters were so much cooler - and quieter - than the gasoline powered stinkers that predominate. Feet, pedals and electric motors only will make for a much more pleasant and greener event. My RAV4 EV with NiMH batteries is going strong after more than 5 years and over 50,000 miles. The 2013 Honda CR-Z goes on sale 21 November with a number of powertrain, styling and feature upgrades, including a new Li-ion battery pack that replaces the NiMH pack in the MY 2012 CR-Z hybrid and delivers more power and improved fuel economy. The gasoline engine can automatically turn off during vehicle stops to improve efficiency.
