London and Paris launch car scoring initiative based on real-world emissions; ICCT the technical lead

The initiative announced today by Paris and London is supported by The Real Urban Emissions (TRUE) Project, funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the FIA Foundation, and the Joshua and Anita Bekenstein Charitable Fund. The scores will be made easily available to citizens through dedicated websites.

ITF study finds limited environmental and safety impacts of car fleet renewal schemes in US, France and Germany

While scrappage schemes have the potential to deliver on objectives such as reducing pollutant emissions, these have not done so as well. Further, the study suggests that seeking CO 2 reduction ahead of pollution or safety improvements in the design of the schemes leads to decreased cost-effectiveness and lower overall societal benefit.
