As sales of electric vehicles begin to reach significant numbers across the US, states are exploring approaches to replace lost tax revenue since EV drivers don’t pay fuel taxes as drivers of gas-powered cars do at gas stations. Unfortunately there is currently no simple and agreed upon best replacement for the fuel tax.

But it is a price that must be paid, and GM should be commended for remaining committed to the Volt. Its been improving over time, but the power density and cost issues are still steep for what exists thus far. Not really sure where all the money is going, but it seems like the Volt is already over-priced and under performing.
