Only available in the US beginning in March of 2021, the hot-selling Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) was apparently the top-selling PHEV in the US last year. From where I sit, a new PHEV from Jeep outselling the Toyota RAV4 Prime is actually pretty impressive. Flip a coin. Auto Industry Analyst.

Navigant suggests that, since the automakers have already designed the vehicles that they will be selling in 2018, they will become more vocal in 2014 to push for changes; the firm expects the dispute to escalate, perhaps resulting in legal action. Of these, 170,000 will be plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and 134,000 will be BEVs.

But PHEVs are inherently the most complicated of all options. They are beginning to do crash testing, and will meet emission requirements, in pursuit of a fully legal, compliant vehicle. A plug-in hybrid, one could say, simply integrates electric drive into a car with internal combustion.
