The auto enthusiast magazine went on to note, “Access to a charger and a commitment to plug in at night, juicing the heavy battery for local use the next day, are musts.”. So how many of those 12,000 owners plug in their 4xe Jeeps? The company apparently does not intend to share that data. 54k MSRP.

The 77kWh battery pack is claimed to consume juice at an average 15.7-17.5kWh/100km The Born comes with rear drum brakes – if you’re not sure what they are read a 1960s car magazine or look at the back of a dual-cab ute – but there seemed no discernible impact on stopping performance. So not only cheaper but faster too. Talking point.

Therefore, until we get quick-charge batteries -- based on new breakthroughs, Ill take a WAG and estimate that we will have real 5-minute quick-charge batteries in perhaps 10 years -- we are likely to get our juice mostly from our home chargers. A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. Wired Home Subscribe Sections Cars 2.0 Hybrids are a proven winner, but a series-hybrid (range extended EV), such as the Volt takes things to a much higher level with existing and "mostly" affordable tech.
