thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers recently signed a supply contract with Shell for the large-scale project Hydrogen Holland I in the port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Shell’s final investment decision to build the Holland Hydrogen I is expected in 2022, after which the intended start of production will be in 2024.

World’s green hydrogen leaders unite to drive 50-fold scale-up in six years. The new “Green Hydrogen Catapult” initiative will see green hydrogen industry leaders target the deployment of 25 gigawatts through 2026 of renewables-based hydrogen production, with a view to halve the current cost of hydrogen to below US$2 per kilogram.

In the first stage of the project, the proposed facility will use Haldor Topsoe’s proprietary solid oxide electrolyzer cells (SOEC) ( earlier post ) to produce green hydrogen from 100 MW of renewable electricity. The hydrogen will be further processed into 300 ton/day of green ammonia , also using Topsoe technology. —Joel H.
