Hyundai’s air mobility arm Supernal plans to put its new S-A2 aircraft into production in 2028 ahead of what it expects to be a huge increase in demand for electric aircraft as an alternative to taxis in cities. The future of our group will allow us to do much more than urban air mobility. At Hyundai we’re doing more than just cars.

Arizona-based startup Local Motors has unveiled Olli ( earlier post ), a 12-passenger minibus that may hit university campuses in Las Vegas and Miami later this year. Otherwise, smaller driverless vehicles (including taxis, rideshare services and private cars) could potentially eliminate the need for public transit.

The EV discussion groups take this up and, with huge amounts of optimism, tell us that we will soon have the ability to instantly charge our electric cars at home or on the highway. I like to use the example of someone driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. I have never been a big fan of battery swapping.
