The plant will feature SGH2’s technology, which will gasify recycled mixed paper waste to produce green hydrogen that reduces carbon emissions by two to three times more than green hydrogen produced using electrolysis and renewable energy, and is five to seven times cheaper. The facility will process 42,000 tons of recycled waste annually.

In Jawor (Poland), a new CO 2 -neutral engine plant is being built. The production hall uses renewable energy and reduces water consumption and waste significantly. However, today’s production grids are powered by alternating current—which has to be converted. The plant will start operating in 2019.

But to decarbonize Europe’s grid in short order, the renewable requirements are already steep, and removing nuclear energy from the picture makes it even harder to match that curve.
