The coveted Chevy Volt battery contract appears to be going to a unit of South Korea’s biggest battery maker. It has been designed to run for up to 40 miles on a single charge of its lithium-ion batteries and then to keep running on juice provided by a 1.4iter, four-cylinder gas engine that serves as a power generator.

South Korea did that and Australia is going to be doing that. A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. Notice in [link] that GM carefully avoids claiming to reduce CO2 by shifting to the grid, but leads people off the track by focusing on smog related issues.
