Some previous Prius plug-in conversion kits allowed motorists to go as fast as 52 miles per hour using a “forced stealth” mode.

Its efforts to incorporate alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) into its fleet began in 2002 with an initial purchase of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), mainly the Toyota Prius and Ford Escape hybrid. In 2010, the city converted 15 Toyota Prius hybrids to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

Green” vehicles hold their value better than traditional cars, trucks and SUVs. Most alternative-fuel vehicles have a retained value four to five percent better than traditional vehicles, though some hybrids and clean diesels, such at the Prius and Jetta TDI, are dramatically higher. Tax credits matter.
