The Bi-State Development Agency (Metro Transit) serving the St. Louis region will receive funds to purchase new electric buses to replace aging diesel buses and related charging infrastructure. The City of Nashua will receive funds to purchase new hybrid electric vans to replace aging vehicles and related charging infrastructure.

The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies. Like the Recovery Act-funded projects, the annual Clean Cities projects include grants for vehicles, infrastructure, and education. Total DOE award: $14,999,905.

The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has selected 10 projects that will receive a share of $55 million in competitive grants that will help put a new generation of zero-emission buses on the road. Grants from the LoNo program help transit agencies integrate more of these advanced buses into their fleets.
