The Coda will be a four-door, five passenger car, that will be made available for around $45,000 - even less once a $7,500 Federal tax credit and additional state incentives are taken into account. The hope for Coda Automotive is to sell 2,700 units in 2010 with production capacity reaching 20,000 units in 2011.

Production capacity will reach 20,000 units in 2011, gated by the production capacity of the battery plant.

The reason the funding was dropped is not clear, but the challenge facing Europe’s big power generators is obvious ? insulating or rebuilding Europe’s rickety housing stock could cut heating bills from 30 to 80 per cent, which would slash demand for their product. Much of the technology needed is still a distant dream ?
