Our neighborhood is called the “Hollywood Riviera&# because of its beautiful hillside homes with idyllic ocean views framed by palm trees. We both know that 20% of California’s electric power is used just to move water from the North down here to the South and all the other places it goes.

In this case for GRID Alternatives at a low income home in my old neighborhood in Long Beach, California. Thanks to them, a family’s electricity is now solar-powered. And that laptop in front of me was powered by those PV panels behind me. If it was on my roof it would be enough to power my whole house year round.

While I was aware of this trend — I see it loud and clear in my own neighborhood — I hadn’t realized how wide-spread this trend actually was in the US. In my own neighborhood I see several EV drivers with long cables from Level 2 chargers in the garage, and extension cords presumably from a 120 Volt outlet. Volker, Calvin G.
