The concept vehicle has an all-electric range of up to 30 km (19 miles). Combined with the CO 2 bonus for the battery-electric driving mode, the vehicle achieves a certified consumption of 3.2 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers (73.5 Mercedes-Benz will present the Vision S 500 Plug-in HYBRID at the 63 rd IAA in Frankfurt.

You can fill it up at the gas station, and you can plug it in to any 120-volt outlet. But when you do, your car essentially becomes an electric vehicle with a gas-tank backup. Lifetime service costs are lower for a vehicle that is mainly electric. You dont have to plug it in.

The 2013 Honda CR-Z goes on sale 21 November with a number of powertrain, styling and feature upgrades, including a new Li-ion battery pack that replaces the NiMH pack in the MY 2012 CR-Z hybrid and delivers more power and improved fuel economy. The gasoline engine can automatically turn off during vehicle stops to improve efficiency.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Shifted earlier focus to all-electric Focus in 2011 with Magna. See Chevy Volt for latest. Company says its focusing on gasoline and hydrogen.
