The Fisker Karma plug-in extended range electric vehicle ( earlier post ) made its public driving debut over the weekend, 19 months after being introduced as a concept. The Fisker Karma can reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in six seconds and has a top speed of 125 mph (201 km/h).

The EVer (Electric Vehicle extended range) powertrain of the Fisker Karma. The company, which began deliveries of the Fisker Karma luxury four-door extended range electric sedan in December 2011, also said that it has delivered 1,000 vehicles to customers in the US and Europe. 2012 Fisker Karma.

Powertrain for the Karma. has received a $30-million purchase order for supplying key components and subsystems related to Quantum’s proprietary Q-Drive powertrain systems for the Fisker Karma production program under the terms of its supply agreement. Fisker Karma utilizes an Ecotec 2.0-liter Source: Fisker Automotive.

A123 Systems has entered a battery supply agreement with Fisker Automotive to supply battery systems for the Fisker Karma Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). The Karma—an extended-range electric vehicle—is scheduled to be launched in late 2010. A123’s technology will ensure the Karma delivers.

Fisker Automotive has appointed its first group of 32 US retailers to market and service its luxury plug-in hybrid vehicles, beginning with the $87,900 Karma sedan later this year. Earlier in March, Fisker staged the European debut of the Karma sedan at the Geneva Motor Show. The Karma is an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV).
