The Cross Coupe GTE plug-in hybrid system has a maximum output of 355 hp (265 kW) and features an all-wheel-drive system that uses an “electric driveshaft”. The Cross Coupe has a zero-emissions range of up to 20 miles (32 km) and can reach 60 mph from rest in just 6.0 liter VR6 gasoline engine and two electric motors.

With a renewable electricity mix, that increases to about 50%. The electric motor and transmission unit are located in direct proximity to the driven rear axle.

The new Passat delivers improved fuel efficiency (up to 20%); diesel and gasoline powertrains; up to 85 kg less weight, and a plug-in hybrid option. For the first time, the Passat will also be offered with a plug-in hybrid drive: 115 kW (154 hp) TSI gasoline engine plus 80 kW electric motor and externally chargeable battery).
