As sales of electric vehicles begin to reach significant numbers across the US, states are exploring approaches to replace lost tax revenue since EV drivers don’t pay fuel taxes as drivers of gas-powered cars do at gas stations. Unfortunately there is currently no simple and agreed upon best replacement for the fuel tax.

Transportation accounts for only 27 percent of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in the U.S.; Another expectation is that homeowners and businesses will become “ fully electrified ” by replacing oil, propane and gas furnaces with heat pumps along with gas fired stoves as well as installing solar power and battery systems.

Ive found it facinating how car commercials changed the main MPG number they promoted before gas went over $4 a gallon as city miles. To get the most mileage, one could not have the radio, the A/C, or the headlights on. Then consider that in order to actually go any farther than the neighbood store, one still had to have ANOTHER car.
