The Hertz Corporation is introducing compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles to its fleet in the US. All vehicles will include NeverLost GPS units to assist renters in mapping local CNG refueling stations. Hertz also deploys CNG airport buses at its Los Angeles Airport location and rents CNG vehicles in both Italy and the United Kingdom.

With more than 750,000 units sold over the year, the number of electric vehicles in the global parc—primarily Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)—surpassed 2 million units in 2016, following a year of strong growth in 2015, according to the International Energy Agency’s Global EV Outlook 2017.

Daimler Trucks continues deliveries of the FUSO eCanter, its fully electric light-duty truck. Among the new customers is Calor, one of UK’s best-known gas suppliers. 16 FUSO eCanter from Daimler Trucks’ small series-production in Tramagal, Portugal, have been delivered to customers in the United Kingdom so far.

The addition of the 92 trucks increases the FedEx fleet of hybrid-electric vehicles by more than 50%, from 172 to 264. FedEx Corp. The hybrid conversions were produced in Charlotte, N.C.
