MW solar park at Chattanooga is owned and operated by Silicon Ranch; VW has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement. CO 2 emissions by the European new vehicle fleet will be reduced by some 30% during the period from 2006 to 2015—emissions will be below the threshold of 120 grams CO 2 /km for the first time by 2015.

The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state. Other battery tests include simulating hot and sunny Phoenix weather by subjecting batteries to greater than 140 °F (60 °C) temperatures, extreme cold conditions in Manitoba, Canada with -40 °F (-40 °C) tests, and by driving vehicles equipped with the batteries through ditches filled with water to ensure there are no issues.

The technology is available (evacuated tubes), theres no reason not to lead the world into the future. Thats double the milage of a Prius and a lot more fun!
