Earlier this year, new CAFE standards require an industry-wide fleet average of approximately 49 mpg for passenger cars and light trucks in model year 2026. The new standards will increase the estimated fleet-wide average by nearly 10 miles per gallon for model year 2026, relative to model year 2021.

30 mpg is nice, but it took them 20 years to get there, while the Hondas and Toyotas of the world have been quietly churning out great cars that great mileage for years, not to mention every GM vehicle Ive owned is a pile of garbage, including my current one. Ill never purchase one again, no matter what the mpgs. thats right.
