EPA fuel economy report finds weight and power leveling off, footprint stable

The report found that fuel economy for the US fleet continues to improve. ft 2 (2.4%); cars increased 1 ft 2 (2.1%); minivans/vans increased 1.0 Since MY 2008, market share has shifted towards car SUVs and truck SUVs, and away from cars, pickups, and minivans/vans. Model year (MY) 2016 vehicle fuel economy was 24.7 ft 2 (-0.4%).

Consumer Reports: Tesla and other domestic brands take big steps backwards in reliability rankings

When compared to the average non-turbo engine among 2016-2018 models, overall, Lexus makes the most reliable turbo powertrain, followed by Honda and Porsche. While the Chrysler 300 improves to “Average,” the Pacifica minivan falls to “Below-Average.” Other GM brands saw their place in the rankings fall from last year.

GM is bringing back the Hummer brand as an EV within the GMC brand. GM, shifting focus to pure EVs, built the last Volt on February 19, 2019. GM’s signature EV now is the Chevrolet Bolt EV , another new name, which arrived as a 2017 model and promptly won Motor Trend ’s Car of the Year award. I’m hoping for the latter.
