In the US, GM has found that Chevrolet Volt demonstration units are a popular showroom draw for dealers as they let consumers look, touch and drive the electric car with extended-range capabilities. GM says that this is part of its plan to gain exposure for the vehicle and the Chevrolet brand.

The XR Extended Range product, using NMC Li-ion cells, allows longer distances between charge events. Since I'm still waiting on parts from ElectroAuto, I decided to take the plunge and do some extensive research on Lead-Acid battery technology. With the AC system, I'll probably be pulling less amps and am looking forward to the extended range. Both US-Battery and Trojan have 8-volt golf-cart batteries.
